The Uprising: When & Where To Watch Online

The Uprising OTT Release Andrew Garfield

Andrew Garfield’s The Uprising is a historical action drama based on England’s 1381 Peasants’ Revolt. The story follows a grieving ploughman who rises against unfair taxes and royal oppression after losing his wife and children during the Black Death.

When officials demand more money from struggling villagers, the situation turns violent. The ploughman’s rebellion soon inspires people across England to unite against the authorities. Along with Wat Tyler and priest John Ball, he leads the peasants towards London to demand justice from King Richard II.

The king appears ready to accept their demands, but his promise hides a betrayal. After Wat Tyler is killed, the rebels are attacked, forcing the ploughman to escape with a few survivors.

The movie does not officially call its hero Robin Hood. However, the ending shows him leading green-clad archers through Sherwood Forest, creating a clear connection to the famous legend. He chooses to spare the king, believing that continued resistance will trouble him more than death.
