Vijay Deverakonda is back on the big screen with Ranabaali, and this time he is going full warrior mode. The Telugu period action drama, directed by Rahul Sankrityan, takes us to 19th-century India—a time of famine, fear, and British rule.
The film follows Ranabaali, a man called the “Savage,” who refuses to stay silent while his people suffer. As the British Empire tightens its grip, he rises in rebellion, turning personal pain into a fight for justice. Expect fire, fury, and plenty of battlefield chaos.
Rashmika Mandanna stars opposite Vijay Deverakonda, while Hollywood actor Arnold Vosloo adds star power to the cast. The film is produced by Mythri Movie Makers and presented by T-Series Films.
Interestingly, the film was first announced as VD14, since it marked Deverakonda’s 14th film as a lead actor. The team shot for around 130 days, beginning in March 2026 and wrapping up in September.
More about Ranabaali movie
Ajay-Atul has composed the music, with Nirav Shah and Jishnu Bhattacharjee handling the camera. Karthika Srinivas has edited the film.
Ranabaali hit theatres on October 16, 2026, but the reviews have been mixed to negative. Critics have flagged the excessive violence, uneven screenplay, editing, and background score. Some also felt Vijay’s portrayal of a warrior from another part of Andhra Pradesh lacked authenticity.
Still, if you like grand historical dramas with raw action and a rebellious hero, this film may be worth a watch in theatres.
Now, for everyone waiting to stream it at home—Netflix has reportedly bagged the digital rights. However, the official OTT release date has not been announced yet. The film is expected to arrive online after its theatrical run, possibly in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam.
