Shilpa Shinde Says Fake MMS Was Circulated After Bhabiji Exit — “Society’s Watchman…”

Shilpa Shinde Fake MMS Leak controversy

Shilpa Shinde, who’s currently on Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa, got real and emotional while talking to fellow contestant Varun Yadav about one of the toughest times in her life. She opened up about what happened after she left the popular sitcom Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain—and how someone circulated a fake MMS using her name.

Shilpa Shinde Reveals About Her Fake MMS Leak

She says the backlash began after her 2015–16 exit. “People were constantly attacking me. I felt trapped,” Shilpa shared. Then things got scarier. A reporter sent her a video and told her it was hers. Shilpa remembers sitting in her car, heart racing, as she finally played it. The clip was blurry, a woman on top of a man. The reporter insisted it was Shilpa. She knew it wasn’t—right down to tiny things like the bedsheet and the timing of her last relationship—but once the rumor started, it spread like wildfire.

Shilpa didn’t just sit and watch. She went to the cyber cell and spent six to seven hours tracing the source. What she found was awful but, sadly, not surprising: the footage came from a Hindi adult site. Someone had taken freeze frames of a woman from certain angles where she vaguely resembled Shilpa, blurred the face a bit, and circulated it with the claim that “Bhabhiji’s MMS is out.” It was a deliberate smear.

The worst part, she says, wasn’t just the clip; it was how it hit her family and reputation. “My mother called me, and even society’s watchman came up to her asking if her daughter’s MMS had leaked,” she said. Imagine having to explain that to your own mother. She also had legal battles at the time; even when she went on Bigg Boss, there was a criminal case against her, and she had to take bail to participate. The whole period was exhausting and humiliating.

This all ties back to her messy split from the show in 2016. She walked away amid disputes about an exclusive contract and unpaid dues, and later accused producer Sanjay Kohli of sexual harassment, a claim that led to more legal wrangling and was eventually settled. Earlier this year, Shilpa shocked many by saying on a podcast that the harassment allegation was false, a statement that brought a lot of criticism. She says the producers later called and thanked her for speaking up.
