After receiving mixed reactions from fans for his recent song Fine Shyt, Guru Randhawa has returned with a brand-new Punjabi single, Marzi. The song is now available on major music streaming platforms, along with its official music video.
Guru Randhawa’s ‘Marzi’ Song
The title Marzi comes from the popular Punjabi phrase “Mitran Di Marji”, which loosely means “our wish” or “our way”. The phrase forms the heart of the song and is repeated through its catchy hook.
The lyrics talk about making your own decisions without worrying too much about what other people think. The song’s message is simple: you decide where you want to sit, where you want to stand, and which path you want to follow.
This attitude of not compromising is visible throughout the track. Instead of trying to please everyone, Guru Randhawa presents himself as someone who knows his worth and is ready to follow his own rules. Unlike a fast-paced party number, Marzi has a slow-burning groove. The music gradually builds its mood, allowing the lyrics and attitude to take centre stage.
The song moves between street-style Punjabi expressions and more polished words. The use of terms such as “bai ji” and “sir ji” gives the track an interesting contrast. It brings together the language of the streets and the world of status, business and power.
Punjabi slang is used heavily in the song, making it feel rooted in the culture that Guru Randhawa has represented throughout his career. The overall vibe is stylish, fearless and confident, with the singer making it clear that he is not interested in changing himself to fit into someone else’s expectations.
The music video of Marzi also presents Guru in a different style. The singer moves away from the glossy and polished settings often seen in his earlier songs and takes an action-oriented route. Guru appears to be the only major on-screen figure in the video. He is shown going through intense training sequences and staged fight scenes, giving the visual a dramatic and cinematic feel.
The video also follows an impressive rise in scale. It begins with a vintage Maruti Suzuki Gypsy and heavy goods vehicles before moving towards blacked-out Mercedes-Benz G-Wagons, fighter jets, and a police escort.

Speaking about the release, Guru Randhawa said that this song is about taking ownership of one’s choices, circle, and story. He added that Punjab does not wait for a seat at the table but believes in building its own table. The singer described the song as a tribute to people who have created their own path from the ground up, make their own decisions and live life according to their own rules.
