Rajkummar Rao is back in one of his most intense avatars with Prahaar: The Untold Story of Ujjwal Nikam. The film brings the real-life story of celebrated public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam to the big screen, focusing on the landmark legal battles that shaped modern India.
Directed by Avinash Arun and produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films, this Hindi legal drama released in theatres on October 16, 2026. It runs for around 175 minutes and blends courtroom tension with the emotional cost of fighting for justice.
The film revisits two of India’s most defining cases: the 1993 Bombay bombings and the 2008 Mumbai attacks. At its centre is Nikam’s role as the prosecutor in high-stakes trials, including the case involving Ajmal Kasab.
What makes this film interesting is that it does not only focus on courtrooms and evidence. It also looks at the pressure, personal sacrifices and moral weight that come with pursuing justice in cases the entire country is watching.

The film had originally been planned for an August release but was later shifted to October to avoid a box-office clash. It finally arrived in cinemas on October 16, 2026.
