Sree Vishnu is back with Comrade Kalyan, a Telugu period action comedy that mixes romance, laughs, and a rather unexpected political twist. Directed by Janakiram Marella, the film arrived in theatres on October 9, 2026, and has been doing steady business at the box office.
Set in 1992 near the Andhra-Odisha border, the story follows Kalyan, a theatre operator with big dreams. His life takes a turn when he falls for Sitara Devi, played by Mahima Nambiar. What begins as a light-hearted love story soon pulls him into a world of confusion, danger, and comic chaos.
The film’s biggest strength is its unusual setup. It blends village humour, romance, and the tense backdrop of Naxalite-police conflict without trying to become too heavy. Sree Vishnu’s comic timing keeps things watchable, while Mahima Nambiar makes a promising Telugu debut.
The supporting cast adds solid value too. Radhika Sarathkumar, Vennela Kishore, Upendra Limaye, Satya, and Brahmaji appear in key roles. Vijay Bulganin’s music and Chota K. Prasad’s editing support the film’s lively, old-world tone.
