Some stories deserve to be heard again. Garividi Lakshmi brings one such story to the screen: the life of an Andhra Pradesh folk singer whose voice turned Burrakatha into something bigger than performance. It became a movement, and it won thousands of hearts along the way.
Directed and written by Gowri Naidu Jammu, the film stars Kayal Anandhi in the lead, with Srinivas Avasarala and Ankith Koyya in key roles. It released in theatres across India on October 17, 2026.
Lakshmi’s journey is the kind that feels almost unbelievable. A gifted singer from the 1990s, she stumbled into stage performances almost by accident. Then came overnight fame. Applause, crowds, recognition—everything arrived quickly. But success also carried a heavy price, eventually pushing her away from the public eye altogether.
The film explores that emotional arc: the rise, the pressure, the personal struggles, and the silence that followed. It is not just a story about music. It is about a woman whose art gave voice to people, while her own life slowly slipped into being forgotten.
Kayal Anandhi leads the film with a performance built around both passion and vulnerability. The supporting cast adds depth to this rural, music-driven world. Aditya Javvadi’s cinematography and Charan Arjun’s music shape the film’s earthy, emotional tone.
