Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan are back together on the big screen, and this time they are bringing plenty of chaos, comedy, and spy-style twists with them. Their new film, Udta Teer, has finally arrived in cinemas, and it promises to be far from your usual serious espionage thriller. Instead, it mixes action, comedy, mistaken identities, and a story that keeps taking unexpected turns.
The film was released in theatres on October 23, 2026, after its release date was shifted more than once. It was initially expected earlier in the year, then moved to October 9, before finally landing on October 23. So if you have been waiting to catch Ayushmann and Sara in this quirky spy comedy, the wait is officially over.
Udta Teer is directed and written by Aakash Kaushik, who is making his directorial debut with this film. The movie is produced by Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Guneet Monga Kapoor, and Achin Jain under Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment. That is quite a powerful combination behind the camera, and it gives the film a big-scale, polished feel.
The story follows Bilal, played by Ayushmann Khurrana, a Pakistani intelligence agent who loses his memory after an explosion. When he wakes up, he believes he is part of India’s Counter-Terrorism Squad. Things become even more complicated when he starts working alongside Yamini, played by Sara Ali Khan, who has no idea about his real identity. From there, the film turns into a fast-paced comic caper full of secrets, confusion, and unpredictable missions.
What makes the premise interesting is that Bilal unknowingly ends up working against his own handlers. His new sense of patriotism, combined with his lack of memory, creates several funny and tense situations. The trailer has already hinted that the film will offer a blend of espionage, action, romance, and comedy rather than sticking to one genre.
More About Udta Teer Movie
The supporting cast is also impressive. The film features Rahul Bose, Ram Kapoor, Gulshan Grover, Mukul Dev, Suhail Nayyar, Supriya Pilgaonkar, Brijendra Kala, and Sandeep Anand, among others. With such a strong ensemble, the movie has enough familiar faces to keep the comedy and drama engaging throughout.
The music is composed by Sachin–Jigar, with lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya. The film has a runtime of 2 hours and 18 minutes and carries a UA 13+ certificate, making it suitable for family viewing with older children.
Udta Teer has also grabbed attention for another reason. Nepal’s Central Film Censor Board reportedly banned the film ahead of its release, citing sensitivities around India-Pakistan relations and local regulations. This added another layer of buzz around the movie, especially because its story revolves around a Pakistani spy and Indian counter-terrorism officers.
