The story follows real-life events of Samar Mehra who is not so young TV star eventually his fame is fading. Samara is a profoundly flawed man who is out of touch with changing attitudes about gender and power. Meanwhile, he is happy in his new relationship with a young woman. Smar found himself at a crossroads when his ex-girlfriend tries to return i to his life. He cuts off all contact and blocks her. He tragically falls into a pit when his ex-girlfriend accuses him of rape, and soon he is dealing with the dark mechanics of a legal battle.
Bander was released worldwide in theaters on 5 June 2026 in Hindi. It features Bobby Deol in a key role. Alongside Sanya Malhotra, Sapna Pabbi, and Saba Azad, with Inderjit Sukumran, Raj B. Shetty, and Jitendra Joshi in supporting roles.

The film was initially released internationally at the Toronto Film Festival as Monkey in a Cage on 6 September, 2025. This crime thriller film is directed by Anurag kayashap. Produced by Nikhil Dwivedi under the banner of Saffron Magicworks. The film is written by Sudip Sharma and Abhishek Banerjee and is inspired by real-life events. Saiyed Shaaz Rizvi handles the cinematography. Whereas Background score was given by Shivahari Varma, while the music by Amit Trivedi, Vishal Mishra, and Payal Dev.
