Lock Upp Season 2 on Netflix served another dramatic moment this weekend when TV star Ram Kapoor walked into the jail-like set and was asked about an old comment that upset a lot of people. Hosts Farah Khan and Riteish Deshmukh didn’t hold back — and neither did the audience.
Why Shreya Kalra Called Ram Kapoor ‘Disgusting’?

If you missed the original fallout, Ram had once compared his hectic promotional schedule to “feeling gang-raped.” That line exploded on social media and drew sharp criticism, especially from digital creator Shreya Kalra. The issue came back up on the show, and things got tense.
Farah told Ram honestly that many fans were hurt by his words. Riteish added something important: public figures’ words matter because they influence people. That set the tone — the show wasn’t treating this as a silly misunderstanding.

Ram sounded calm and a bit defensive. He said he was sorry, but also called the comment part of his sense of humour. He explained he always talks like that and doesn’t want to stop smiling or making jokes. He also said he learned something from the backlash because he realized he’d been speaking in front of young people. “You should learn and move on,” he said, urging everyone not to lose their joy over one mistake.
Shreya’s reaction felt raw and real. She didn’t buy his explanation and called him out directly. “You’re 52 — my father’s age. How are you still ‘learning’ at this age?” she asked. She made a strong point: joking about gang rape isn’t a small thing. It hurts survivors and shouldn’t be brushed off as merely bad humour. She wanted him to take responsibility, especially since so many people watch him and look up to him.
Ram kept his cool. He answered that he hopes to keep learning all his life and that people can hold different views. Meanwhile, you could hear Farah’s quiet “Oh God” in the background — that little noise said a lot about how awkward the moment had become.
Other contestants looked surprised. Some thought Shreya wanted a clear apology and a promise that he wouldn’t make such a remark again. Ram said he’d already taken accountability in an earlier interview and even said “guilty as charged” at that time — but that didn’t satisfy everyone in the room.
On social media, many fans sided with Shreya and praised her for speaking up. People pointed out how stunned the other contestants looked and called out Ram for not seeming truly remorseful. Others said Shreya would be a strong contestant because she speaks her mind.
Allegedly, Ram Kapoor also turned down Ekta Kapoor’s demand to perform an intimate kissing scene on screen in a hit TV show, ‘Bade Achhe Lagte Hain’. After some time, Ekta Kapoor took an indirect shot at Ram Kapoor’s weight loss by asking her followers whether she should lose some weight with Ozempic. All these created a social media ruckus, but Ram Kapoor seemingly put the allegations on hold when he joined Ekta’s show Lock Upp Season 2.
