Written by Luv Ranjan, the movie’s story follows a love triangle, career bumps, and people trying to grow up a bit. It’s familiar, yes, but the screenplay spices things up with small, modern touches—so it doesn’t feel like the same old rom-com. The first half is light and fun; the second half gets a bit more serious, and the emotional moments actually land because the characters feel real. You can predict some plot points, but the warmth in the scenes keeps it enjoyable. Yes, the story has the scope of betterment, but the nicely written screenplay overshadows the flaws.

Acting & Performances
Here comes the best thing about the film. Shahid Kapoor, oh my god! He’s so good in the film. You can’t keep your eyes away for even a microsecond when he appears on the screen. Shahid has lifted this rom-com drama to a different level with his charming performance.
Well, taking nothing away from Kriti Sanon, she looked so pretty and hot in the film. Showing her acting range, Kriti was the soul of the film in the second half. With a cute and innocent persona, Rashmika Mandanna delivered a good performance as well. But the only complaint we have with Rashmika is that she needs to work on her Hindi dialect.
Music & Songs
When the man in charge of music is Pritam Chakraborty, you don’t doubt the music of the film. Pritam has nailed it again. The perfect combination of new songs and some old bangers lifts the film’s mood. Yes, you might feel disappointed with the recreation of old melodies like ‘Tum Hi Ho Bandhu’, but you have to give Pritam his flowers for not altering the essence of the original track in ‘Bandhu 2.0’. On the other hand, ‘Mashooqa’ and ‘Tujhko’ are the new tracks that are on their way to becoming evergreen hits.

Direction
Let’s talk about the final boss of the film. Homi Adajania kept things straightforward and focused on the characters. Visually, the film looks bright and stylish without being flashy. The city settings feel lived-in and match the tone of the story. The director knows when to let a moment breathe, which helps the emotional scenes feel honest. Editing could be a little tighter in a couple of places, but overall the film moves at a comfy pace that makes it easy to watch.

Overall, the Homi Adajania directorial ‘Cocktail 2’ has everything that makes it a perfect watch in these hot summers.
